about me
I'm Amy Faulkner. I'm a Welsh-born Londoner and live with my family in Isleworth, West London. Along with yoga I love travel, a good book, and long lunches with friends and family. I have a background in international development and am passionate about people realising their full potential.
I've been practising and enjoying yoga for over 20 years - I love how it makes me feel both physically and emotionally and try to convey that during my teaching. I studied with the British Wheel of Yoga, and have a 500 hour level 4 Diploma in Teaching Yoga.

why yoga?
People come to yoga for all sorts of different reasons - to relax, recharge, face a new challenge or simply have some time to themselves. I aim to cover all of those - we spend time checking in with the body, breath and mind before moving round the mat in our asanas (physical postures) at a level that suits each individual. We also make time for pranayama (breathing) practice and guided relaxation. Some students are at the start of their yoga journey and others have been practising for years. What's important is to come with an open heart and a willingness to explore just what your body and mind can do!
"Amy establishes an incredibly warm and friendly atmosphere, making each class feel like a communal activity, in which participants are sharing a truly valuable experience rather than pushing themselves to achieve physical perfection."

classes
In our practice I aim to leave you feeling relaxed, calm, but also invigorated and ready for anything! Through a mix of physical movements, breathing exercises, and guided relaxation, these classes are suitable for all levels of yogi as long as you can get up and down from the floor unaided. All classes are £12, or you can buy a five class pass for £50. This lasts 3 months, so you don't need to come to consecutive sessions. You can pay with cash, card or bank transfer. You'll also need to bring your own mat!

STUDIO CLASSES

Monday 10.30-11.30am Wycombe House Tennis club (map and parking available) - A more gentle class, this is a lovely way to start the week.

Thursday 7.45-8.45pm St John's Centre, Isleworth (map - parking available) - My evening class is slightly stronger, but still an offering suitable for all levels.
WHAT TO BRING AND WHAT TO EXPECT!

You will need to bring a yoga mat - you don't have to spend a fortune on this, especially if you're a beginner. You can pick up a decent one for £20.
As well as your mat, think about bringing something to sit on - a yoga block, cushion, or rolled up blanket are all good, and then you can use the blanket again when we relax at the end of our practice!
You may also like to invest in a yoga brick, which can be helpful for some of our standing postures, as can a strap. Finally, an eye pillow can help you relax.
I'm a hatha yoga teacher, meaning I don't follow a set practice. There are some postures that will come up over and over again, and others that we only explore occasionally.

All our classes are practised barefoot, and it's important to wear clothes you feel comfortable in, remembering we'll be standing up, lying down, bending over, be on hands and knees, and everything else besides! Leggings or jogging bottoms with a vest or t-shirt is perfect.
post natal and baby yoga

I hope to start my drop in baby yoga classes very soon! It's a lovely way to make time for yourself after giving birth, while bonding with your baby. If you are part of a postnatal group and you're interested in having a class together then do let me know. I can safely fit 3 adults and 3 babies in my home yoga studio. This practice is suitable for postnatal adults and babies who have had their six week GP check, until the babies are crawling and mobile.

post natal and baby yoga
Baby yoga is a really lovely way to bond with your baby while making time for yourself post-birth. It's suitable for all new parents as long as both you and your baby have passed your six week check. It's best before your baby is too mobile, so until they're around 9 months.

You'll need to bring a mat for yourself, and a blanket or large muslin for your baby, along with everything else they need.
Classes are held at my home in Isleworth and are either private sessions with just you and me, or shared with one other parent and baby! Each class is £20. Email me to reserve your space.
Wednesday 12.30-1.15pm OR at a time that mutually works for us both.

private and corporate classes
Sometimes people can't commit to a regular class but still want to introduce yoga to their lives. I can offer a tailor-made session from the comfort of my private studio in Isleworth, or can come to your home if you have the space.

Corporate yoga is a great way to get rid of tension in the workplace, and can work well on zoom or teams too! Recently I've been invited to teach United Airlines and Sky employees as part of their virtual team meetings.

I also work with life coach Emily Frost to offer 45 minute power sessions of life coaching and chair yoga! These are aimed for businesses who are looking for something a bit different in their team building. Message either of us to find out more!

reviews
I just wanted to say how much I really love your beginner yoga classes and I would love to continue when this block is finished. You are so patient and I love the non-competitive, accepting way you practise. The handouts are really helpful too. Beginners course, September 2017

I have been so grateful for your wonderful yoga classes...they have helped me find an inner strength to complete a challenging work project by putting me back in touch with my body and also by quietening my thoughts and giving me a space to truly relax and unwind. Regular student, January 2018

Having had a fair few yoga teachers in the past you're by far the best - thank you! Regular student, November 2019
